It's a wee bit late on the update but i've got the Final Results from the recent Dave McCullagh Long Course meet in Limerick.

The Dave McCullagh is the 1st Long Course meet of the season and this showed for some people, although some of the times produced were exceptional.

Leander only had 3 swimmers competing (due to school and university commitments). Conor Donnelly, David Madine and Sycerika McMahon.

400m I.M.: 4:56.47 (2nd) (UJR)

Some great swims and buckets of new Ulster Junior (UJR) and Ulster Senior (USR) records.

Conor broke the long standing 800m and 1500m records of Bangor swimmer James Hand set way back in 1996 in Vienna. The junior record was also the senior record and consequently he now holds both. Funnily enough he actually broke the 800m record twice! Once on the way to the 1500m and again in the individual race! All in all he set 7 records in 3 swims. 4 of those being in a single race!

As I had pointed out earlier this year he had been looking to break the 400m Free UJR of C.O.B. swimmer Conor Leaney. After missing it by less than 0.5 sec at the international schools meet he finally got it last weekend. Like the true performer he is Conor Leaney was one of the first to congratulate him. (He was probably second behind yours truly! I know how hard Wooze has been working for that.)

Not to be outdone Sycerika (who is now taking a well deserved break) showed great versatility and speed by sprinting to a new UJR in the 50m Freestyle. I can't remember the last time she swam this event but it was a welcome boost. As always she had a hectic schedule but she showed great maturity in coming through to beat Great Britain’s Olympic Silver Medallist Keri-Anne Payne in the 200m Brst. That's right...BEAT A BEIJING SILVER MEDALIST!

Next event up is the Irish Long Course Championships in the N.A.C. Dublin. Leander will be sending a larger team down and we will be tanking it out for some more success.
